Book hotels at last minute
December 6th, 2007
For the brave, it’s always interesting calling the hotel you want to stay at the day you intend to arrive, or possibly the day before. Hotels will often be willing to offer substantial discounts on the day, from their point of view an empty room is a waste of money. If you feel particularly daring it is even worth telling the hotel what you are
willing to pay, asking them if they have rooms available.
This is a particularly effective way to do about getting a very good deal if you are in a city that has several hotels, it is outside the peak season and you are flexible terms of facilities.
If you are not quite so bold felt in terms of the leave at the last minute, you can call the hotel several days in advance. While you can not get the total for bargains, you are always in a good position to negotiate, especially if you are traveling out of the season. If you are targeting a hotel, consult with their cancellation policy. For example, if a specific hotel needs at least 3 days notice at no charge for a cancellation, then this is the point where they are most likely to receive the greatest number of cancellations. Hotels will be ready to fill these spaces.
Another good way to use the cancellation policies for hotels is to book a relatively cheap for the hotel chain which allows you to cancel for free until the date of travel. Then, the day you can call around to other hotels to see if you can get a better price. If you can cancel your reservation unprecedented penalty if you do then you can
always have a roof over your head!
If you plan on negotiations for a night or discounts generally small regional hotels. Because the big chains have a central system and can not normally negotiate directly with a guest. To take this into account when you select your targets!
Facilities such as swimming pools, fitness centers, and satellite television at all costs add a hotel. Consider this carefully. Are you paying more for the plants you do not want, do not need and do not even notice? If you are after a cheap base, and then avoid hotels with extra facilities that it will almost invariably add to your costs.
